Definition: In the PCB industry, the thickness of copper foil is usually expressed in ounces (OZ). 1OZ is equal to 28.35 grams, and in this industry, the thickness of 1OZ copper foil is defined as the thickness corresponding to the weight of 1OZ (i.e. 28.35 grams) of copper foil covering an area of one square foot. Based on the density and quality relationship of copper, the approximate thickness of 1OZ copper foil can be calculated to be 35 micrometers (μ m). Therefore, copper thickness of 2OZ or above refers to copper foil thickness reaching or exceeding 70 microns.
